Not hockey, but traffic: what surprised Blueger most in Toronto
Latvian hockey player Teodors Blueger, who joined the Toronto Maple Leafs this summer, says the thing that surprised him most about his new city is the unpredictable traffic. He has yet to register a point in his first three games with the club.

After a recent practice, Teodors Blueger was asked what had surprised him most since arriving in Toronto. Rather than commenting on hockey or the team atmosphere, the Latvian forward pointed to something far more mundane — the city's traffic.
Blueger explained that the commute to the arena can vary enormously: sometimes the drive takes a full hour, while other times he can cover the same route in just 20 minutes. He added that taking the subway seems like a more efficient option than driving, since traffic in the city is hard to predict and requires constantly checking his phone for updates.
A fresh start
Blueger signed with the Maple Leafs this past summer on a two-year, five-million-dollar contract, after spending the previous season with the Vancouver Canucks. The move means adjusting not only to a new team system but also to daily life in a new city.
On the ice, the new season has yet to get going for Blueger statistically — he has not recorded a goal or an assist in his first three games wearing the Maple Leafs jersey. The sports outlet BarDown also shared the Latvian forward's comments on traffic through its social media account.
