Latvian athlete Mārtiņš Blūms did not finish the Olympic cross-country (XCO) race at the Mountain Bike World Cup round in Switzerland on Sunday, June 21. Starting with number 57 among 94 riders, Blūms pulled out after the first lap.
The victory went to Frenchman Luca Martin, who covered the 31.46-kilometer course in one hour, 20 minutes, and 43 seconds. Second place was claimed by his compatriot Adrien Boichy (+25 seconds), while American Bjorn Riley finished third (+58 seconds).
Blūms currently sits outside the top 40 in the rankings, which prevents him from participating in the short cross-country (XCC) events at the World Cup.
