BMW driver loses licence for a year after speeding at 170 km/h in Jelgava municipality

While carrying out traffic surveillance in Cenu parish, Jelgava municipality, officers from the Response unit of the Southern Zemgale precinct of the State Police’s Zemgale Regional Administration spotted a BMW. The officers detected that the car was travelling at 170 kilometres per hour in an area where the speed limit is 90 kilometres per hour. The driver therefore exceeded the permitted speed by 80 kilometres per hour.

The speeding BMW was noticed during traffic monitoring in Cenu parish, and the officers subsequently confirmed the violation. According to the information released by the police, the driver has lost their driving licence for a period of one year. The vehicle involved was a BMW, and the incident occurred while police staff were conducting road traffic supervision in Jelgava municipality. The Response unit’s officers saw the car moving at high speed and measured it at 170 km/h, while the allowed speed on that particular road section was 90 km/h.

As a result of exceeding the limit by 80 km/h, the person was disqualified from driving for one year. The authorities reported that this measure was applied for the speed violation. Police officers from the Southern Zemgale precinct of the Zemgale Regional Administration detected the offence in Cenu parish, where the BMW was being driven well above the legal limit.
