Boox teases the incredibly tiny Picco ereader

Boox has joined the trend of ultra-small ereaders with the announcement of the Picco. This device features a 3.97-inch monochrome e-paper display, making it small enough to slip into a pocket. It is even smaller than the Xteink X4 Pro, which was praised for its pocket-sized form factor.

Despite its tiny size, the Picco appears to be a capable ereader. It includes a front-lit screen, which is essential for modern e-readers, and a microSD card slot. Since digital books take up very little space, even an 8GB microSD card can store between 2,000 and 8,000 titles, enough for an entire vacation.

However, Boox has been cagey about other details. The weight, exact dimensions, battery life, price, and release date have not been disclosed. The company says this information will be announced soon but has hinted at an “accessible price point.” For reference, the aforementioned Xteink X4 Pro costs $100.

Boox has stated that the Picco is the first product in a brand-new category of “e-paper devices with diverse form factors.” The company already makes e-paper tablets and displays, leaving speculation about what other shapes might come next.
