Bournemouth complete signing of Spanish defender Juanlu Sanchez
Bournemouth have completed the signing of right-back Juanlu Sanchez from Sevilla for a fee that could reach £11.1 million. The 22-year-old Olympic gold medallist becomes the club's third arrival of the summer transfer window.

Bournemouth have confirmed the acquisition of Spanish right-back Juanlu Sanchez from La Liga side Sevilla. The transfer package could reach £11.1 million, with an initial payment of £9.4 million and an additional £1.7 million in potential add-ons.
The 22-year-old defender brings considerable experience for his age, having featured in over 100 senior matches for Sevilla. His career includes appearances in the Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, and La Liga. Sanchez also represented Spain at the 2024 Olympic Games, scoring the decisive goal in the semi-final against Morocco and helping his team secure gold against France in the final.
Speaking about his move, Sanchez expressed his happiness, saying that he and his family had been eager to join Bournemouth and that he was delighted to finally call himself a Cherries player. The club's president of football operations, Tiago Pinto, praised the defender's experience at such a young age, noting his consistent performances in domestic and European competitions. Pinto added that Sanchez remains hungry for further development and will bring valuable qualities to the squad ahead of the new season.
Sanchez is Bournemouth's third signing of the transfer window, following the acquisitions of Antonio Silva from Benfica and Alvaro Rodriguez from Elche, both for £25.7 million. The club is also actively seeking a second-choice goalkeeper to provide competition for Djordje Petrovic, with pre-season ongoing ahead of their inaugural Europa League campaign.
Meanwhile, Sevilla has expressed interest in Bournemouth striker Enes Unal, whom the club is looking to offload. The Turkey international also has potential suitors in Turkey and Saudi Arabia. On the other hand, Bournemouth have made it clear that key players Eli Junior Kroupi, Rayan, and Alex Scott are not for sale, according to senior sources.
