Reišulis Brothers Secure 6th and 7th Overall in MX2 Standings Before Season Finale
Latvian riders Jānis and Kārlis Reišulis finished fifth and eighth respectively at the Shanghai round of the Motocross World Championship, already locking in sixth and seventh places in the MX2 season standings ahead of the final round.
At the penultimate round of the Motocross World Championship, held on the Shanghai circuit in China, brothers Jānis and Kārlis Reišulis of the Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MX2 Team delivered solid performances aboard their Yamaha YZ250FM machines.
Jānis Reišulis suffered a crash in the opening lap of his first moto, dropping him to the back of the field. Riding aggressively, he fought his way back up to seventh place despite the setback. In the second moto, a strong start allowed him to run with the leading group for much of the race before finishing fifth. Afterward, Jānis said he was satisfied overall, noting he learned a lot even though holding the pace with the frontrunners became increasingly difficult toward the end of the second moto. The result secured him sixth place in the MX2 world championship standings in his debut season with the team.
Kārlis Reišulis had a tougher start to the day, finishing 11th in his first moto. He improved significantly in the second race, using a good start and consistent pace to finish sixth, giving him eighth overall for the round. Kārlis admitted it hadn't been his easiest day, but said the second moto went considerably better than the first. The result already guaranteed him the best result of his MX2 career — seventh place in the season standings — before the finale.
Both brothers are now preparing for the season-ending round in Darwin, Australia. Heading into the finale, the championship is led by Guillem Farres, who holds a 48-point advantage over second-placed Triumph rider Camden McLellan.
