Brazil's Mega-Sena jackpot rolls over to 95 million reais

No winner again

Brazil's national lottery Mega-Sena held its 3057th draw on Sunday, September 13, in São Paulo, and once again no bet matched all six numbers drawn. According to G1, the prize going into the draw stood at about 84.4 million reais; since nobody won, it rolled over to approximately 95 million reais, which will be up for grabs at the next draw on Tuesday, September 15.

The numbers drawn were: 02, 04, 16, 21, 48 and 53.

Smaller prizes still paid out

While no one claimed the top prize, 86 bets matched five of the six numbers and each received 31,872.72 reais. Another 5,234 bets matched four numbers, each winning 863.24 reais.

This continues a streak from the previous draw — as reported by ISTOÉ DINHEIRO, Thursday's draw 3056 on September 10 (with numbers 14, 21, 25, 40, 51 and 56) also produced no jackpot winner and rolled over to 85 million reais, while 50 bets matched five numbers that time, each earning at least 45,990.43 reais, including one bet from São Gotardo in the state of Minas Gerais.

How Mega-Sena works

Mega-Sena is Brazil's most traditional lottery, in which players choose between six and 20 numbers out of a pool of 60. A simple bet with six numbers costs 6 reais, and the odds of matching all six are 1 in 50,063,860, according to the state bank Caixa Econômica Federal. Choosing the maximum of 20 numbers, at a cost of 232,560 reais, raises the odds of winning to 1 in 1,292.

Draws are held three times a week — on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. Bets can be placed at lottery outlets across the country or online until 8 p.m. Brasília time, while digital pooled bets can be purchased until 8:30 p.m. Players must be at least 18 years old, and payment can be made via PIX, credit card or online banking. Winners have 90 days from the draw date to claim their prize.
