Brentford thrash Tottenham 3:0 in Premier League opening round
Brentford beat Tottenham 3:0 at home in the opening round of the English Premier League, taking a two-goal lead already in the first half.

Brentford delivered a convincing home win over Tottenham in the opening round of the English Premier League, triumphing 3:0.
The hosts took control from the very first minutes. In the 13th minute, Keane Lewis-Potter opened the scoring after a pass from Mamadou Sangare. Soon after, Igor Thiago struck the crossbar with a header, before Vitaly Janelt pounced on a rebound in the 33rd minute and fired home to make it 2:0 before the break.
Early in the second half, the hosts extended their lead further. In the 49th minute, Michael Kayode was first to react to a loose ball inside the penalty area and drove it in for 3:0. Later, in the 55th minute, Igor Thiago failed to add a fourth goal, hitting the post from the penalty spot.
Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi made several substitutions during the match, but the visitors could not mount a serious response. In their best chances, Tottenham were denied by Brentford goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher, who saved shots from Micky van de Ven's teammate Mikey Moore and kept a clean sheet.
With the win, Brentford collected a maximum haul of points in the opening round, while Tottenham suffered a loss at the very start of the season.
