A 17-year-old boy is in stable condition in intensive care after being allegedly stabbed by another student at a Brisbane high school. The incident occurred at the Islamic College of Brisbane in Karawatha, south of Brisbane, at around 11:45 am on Tuesday, according to Queensland Police.

The victim sustained life-threatening injuries and was rushed to Princess Alexandra Hospital, where he was later listed as stable in the ICU.

Police arrested a 16-year-old boy on Tuesday afternoon in connection with the attack. He is currently assisting officers with their inquiries, and no charges have been laid. A police spokesperson said the two boys are believed to be known to each other.

Authorities are conducting patrols in the surrounding area and are appealing for anyone with relevant CCTV or dashcam footage to come forward.

This is the second school stabbing in Queensland this week. In a separate incident on Monday, a 15-year-old boy from Kanimbla, in far north Queensland, was charged with one count of acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm after allegedly stabbing another boy at a school in Cairns. He was refused bail and was due to appear in Cairns Children's Court on Tuesday.
