EU-China Trade Talks Set for Brussels
EU and Chinese trade officials will meet on June 29 in Brussels to address a trade imbalance that last year reached €360 billion.

EU Trade Commissioner Maroš Šefčovič will host Chinese Trade Minister Wang Wentao in Brussels on Monday, June 29, for trade talks. The meeting was confirmed by EU trade spokesman Olof Gill.
The European Union has recently emphasized the need to resolve its trade imbalance with China. Last year, the bloc's goods trade deficit with China amounted to approximately €360 billion, meaning the EU imported far more than it exported.
EU leaders agreed last week on a dual approach: calling on the European Commission to engage Beijing in dialogue while simultaneously developing stronger tools to address the surge of Chinese exports. Commission spokesperson Paula Piñu said the EU is working on an instrument to ensure solidarity among member states and promote fair practices, but did not provide further details.
According to an EU diplomat speaking to AFP, all EU leaders except Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez support a tougher stance on trade with China.
