Briton George Staines Earns UFC Deal With 61-Second Finish
British fighter George Staines earned a UFC contract after stopping opponent Loai Abushaar in just 61 seconds on Dana White's Contender Series.
George Staines, a 26-year-old lightweight fighter from Hull, delivered a dominant performance in Las Vegas, needing only 61 seconds to finish opponent Loai Abushaar. Staines took the fight to the floor before closing it out with ground-and-pound strikes.
Staines trains in Liverpool alongside UFC star Paddy Pimblett, who watched ringside along with fellow fighter Luke Riley as their training partner closed out the night's card.
Praise From Dana White
UFC president Dana White praised the performance, noting that Staines faced a large opponent in the 155lb division and thoroughly dominated him. White called it one of the greatest finishes he has seen, saying Staines made it look easy.
Staines was one of four fighters awarded a contract on the night. The win extended his unbeaten professional record to 11 victories. Before this contract, he had competed for promotions including Oktagon and Cage Warriors.
