Explosions rock Bucha district as warehouses burn after Russian attack, Kyiv-Chop road shut
A Russian attack sparked a warehouse fire and explosions in the Bucha district of Kyiv Oblast on the evening of 28 August, forcing authorities to close a section of the M-06 Kyiv-Chop road. Emergency crews are on scene and residents have been told to stay away.
Loud explosions were heard in the Bucha district of Kyiv Oblast on the evening of 28 August, followed by a fire that broke out at warehouse facilities. The incident was reported by several Kyiv-based Telegram channels, Patrol Police Department head Oleksandr Biloshytskyi, and Kyiv Oblast Military Administration head Tymur Tkachenko.
As a result, traffic in both directions was blocked on the M-06 Kyiv-Chop road between kilometres 15 and 32. Biloshytskyi urged drivers to factor the closure into their route planning, noting that police had made alternative routes available. He initially did not specify the cause of the closure.
Tkachenko later confirmed that the warehouse facilities in the Bucha district caught fire as a result of a Russian attack, with the blaze accompanied by explosions. He said emergency services were working at the scene and firefighters were doing everything possible to contain the fire.
Tkachenko urged local residents not to approach the site and to follow instructions from emergency services. Smoke from the fire reportedly could be seen as far as Kyiv.
