Hungary's BOOKR Kids raises €6.1 million to expand EdTech platform globally
Budapest-based EdTech company BOOKR Kids has closed a €6.1 million Series A round to develop its literacy and language-learning platform and expand internationally. The round was led by TCEE Fund IV with participation from several private investors.

BOOKR Kids, a Budapest-based company behind the learning platform BOOKR Class, has completed a €6.1 million Series A funding round aimed at developing its literacy, language-learning and AI-readiness tools for children.
The round was led by TCEE Fund IV, advised by 3TS Capital Partners, with participation from a representative of the US literacy nonprofit Kids Read Now, the head of education company SchoolDay, Finnish family investment vehicle Infinit Capital Oy, and Hungarian angel investor and Billingo CEO Albert Sárospataki.
Founded in 2015, BOOKR has grown into an international learning ecosystem serving more than 600,000 paying students across over 3,000 schools in more than 30 countries, with key markets in Europe, Asia, the Middle East and the Americas. The company focuses primarily on English-language learning, while also offering German-language and Hungarian first-language literacy programmes.
The platform combines interactive, curriculum-based digital books with AI-powered tools for teachers, including diagnostics, curriculum mapping and learning-data analysis. Features available directly to children remain limited in scope, in line with privacy and child-safety principles.
Alongside the funding, the company announced the launch of a new Teacher Dashboard. BOOKR is also developing an AI-driven language proficiency assessment system, supported by a €662,000 non-repayable EU grant.
University-led research in Hungary found that students using BOOKR's interactive format improved their reading comprehension by 20% more than a control group. A 2026 pilot in Jordan also showed meaningfully stronger results for students using the platform compared with a comparison group.
The new funding will go toward global expansion in Asia, the Middle East, Europe and the Americas, as well as the development of new products including BOOKR Next for teenage learners and BOOKR Phonics for early literacy.
