Buffalo Sabres' leading scorer Alex Tuch to leave team
Buffalo Sabres general manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced that forward Alex Tuch will become an unrestricted free agent on July 1.

The Buffalo Sabres will lose their offensive leader Alex Tuch this summer. General manager Jarmo Kekalainen confirmed that Tuch will become an unrestricted free agent on July 1. The organization has accepted his departure, though they remain open to a sign-and-trade deal to recoup assets. "We'll miss him, but we'll move on," Kekalainen said.
The Sabres attempted to negotiate a contract extension before the free agency period, but talks were unsuccessful. Tuch recorded 33 goals and 66 points in 79 games last season, helping Buffalo reach the playoffs for the first time since 2011. He is considered one of the most sought-after forwards in the upcoming free agent market.
Earlier, Buffalo traded defenseman Bowen Byram and Jordan Greenway to the Chicago Blackhawks for multiple draft picks.
