Bayern struggle past newcomer

In matchday three of the German Bundesliga, FC Bayern Munich secured a hard-fought 2-1 win over season surprise SV Elversberg, according to BILD and WELT. Before the game, the promoted side — from a town of around 7,500 residents — had won both of its previous matches in what is the club's first-ever Bundesliga season. The match was played at a stadium still under construction, with WELT reporting an attendance of 9,307.

Lennart Karl put Bayern ahead in the 26th minute, but Maurice Krattenmacher — who joined Elversberg from Bayern over the summer — equalized with a long-range strike in the 61st minute. Harry Kane scored the winner in the 72nd minute. WELT notes that the win moved Bayern up to fourth place with seven points, while Elversberg, after its first defeat of the season, sits sixth with six points. Coach Vincent Kompany made seven changes to the lineup compared to Bayern's previous Champions League match, a 5-0 win over Bodø/Glimt.

Supercomputer predicts Bayern title

Ahead of that match, based on the standings after matchday two, 90min.de reported that Opta's supercomputer — running 10,000 season simulations — projected Bayern to finish top with an average of 76.77 points, 13 points clear of Borussia Dortmund (63.64). Bayern's title probability was put at 76.4%, versus 12.3% for Dortmund. Hamburger SV, Paderborn, Schalke and Gladbach were named as the leading relegation candidates, while Elversberg's relegation risk dropped sharply to 7.4% after its strong start.

Wolfsburg tipped to top 2. Bundesliga

In the second division, after matchday five, Google's Gemini AI — as reported by 90min.de — predicts VfL Wolfsburg will finish first, giving them a 36.3% promotion chance, even though Hertha BSC currently leads the actual table; the AI places Hertha second with a 15% chance. VfL Osnabrück and Eintracht Braunschweig are forecast for the relegation zone, with Arminia Bielefeld predicted 16th. It should be stressed these are algorithm-based projections drawn from current form, not confirmed outcomes.
