Bwin doubles odds on Borussia Dortmund winning the German title
Bookmaker Bwin has boosted its odds on Borussia Dortmund becoming German champions this season, while the new Bundesliga campaign kicks off with HSV visiting BVB.
Bwin boosts Dortmund title odds
Betting company Bwin has launched a special promotion tied to the start of the 2026/27 German Bundesliga season, offering boosted odds on Borussia Dortmund (BVB) winning the championship. According to RTL.de, Bwin customers can now bet on a Dortmund title win at odds of 20.0 — double the company's original odds of 10.0. Should Dortmund actually win the title, the payout would reportedly be made without any additional conditions.
Borussia Dortmund last won the German championship in the 2011/12 season, when the club, coached by Jürgen Klopp, broke Bayern Munich's dominance two years running. Since then, only Bayer Leverkusen (in 2023/24) has managed to finish above the record champions. In recent years, Bayern Munich under coach Vincent Kompany has shown clear dominance over the rest of the Bundesliga, and many experts expect this to continue in the new season. Dortmund's hopes remain alive nonetheless, despite a 1:2 defeat to Bayern in the season's first meeting between the two — the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup.
Odds from other bookmakers confirm Bayern's status as heavy favourites: Bet365 offers 1.13 for a successful Bayern title defence, compared with 11.0 for Dortmund. Bet365 also leads with the best odds for RB Leipzig (15.0) and Bayer Leverkusen (17.0), while Interwetten offers the top odds for VfB Stuttgart (70.0) and TSG Hoffenheim (85.0).
Bundesliga season opens with HSV away at Dortmund
According to WELT, the new Bundesliga season kicks off with runners-up Borussia Dortmund hosting Hamburger SV (HSV) on Saturday at 18:30. HSV coach Merlin Polzin, 35, said facing BVB right away forces his team to be focused from the start, adding that HSV opening the season with the marquee fixture reflects the club's standing in German football.
This is Polzin's second season as HSV's Bundesliga coach, following a 13th-place finish last season that secured the club's place in the top flight. The squad has seen changes: defensive leader Luka Vuskovic has left, while new arrivals include Sebastiaan Bornauw, Patson Daka and Terem Moffi. Midfielder Albert Grönbaek, previously on loan, has been signed permanently and underlined his value by scoring twice in HSV's 3:0 DFB Cup win over SC Verl. Polzin himself is under contract until 2027 and said he remains relaxed about ongoing talks over a new deal, noting that both he and the club know what they have in each other.
