Chinese automaker BYD has refuted rumors about entering Formula 1 as a new team, although the idea has been circulating. At the Goodwood Festival of Speed, company representatives stated that there is no concrete program at present.

BYD Vice President Stella Li emphasized that no official project exists, even if the dream of F1 participation remains. Meanwhile, special advisor Alfredo Altavilla added that BYD would only consider involvement if it is technologically justified. He stressed that the company would never join the championship just for the sake of branding.

Altavilla also noted that the company's stance could change depending on future F1 engine regulations. Currently, the FIA is moving toward a simpler engine formula after 2030, featuring V8 engines with reduced hybrid components. If BYD could become a technology partner in F1, the company would be interested, but that is a prerequisite.

It is worth noting that BYD is currently the world's leading electric vehicle manufacturer and also develops hybrid models. However, the company has stopped developing pure internal combustion engine vehicles, which could influence its decision regarding F1 involvement.
