Canucks send Latvian forward Ravinskis down to AHL affiliate
The Vancouver Canucks trimmed their preseason training camp roster by 11 players, with 23-year-old Latvian forward Ravinskis among those reassigned to the AHL. Forty-six players remain in contention for a spot on the NHL roster.
The Vancouver Canucks have cut 11 players from their preseason training camp roster, leaving 46 skaters still competing for spots on the NHL squad. Among those reassigned to the club's AHL affiliate is 23-year-old Latvian forward Ravinskis.
Last season Ravinskis played 32 regular-season AHL games, scoring two goals and adding two assists. In the spring he underwent surgery following a serious injury, but he has since made a full recovery and is ready to continue his career.
In May 2025, Ravinskis signed a two-year entry-level contract with Vancouver, which runs through the end of the upcoming season.
Other Latvians in NHL training camps
Several Latvian players are currently vying for roster spots across the league: Dans Ločmelis (Boston Bruins), Sandis Vilmanis and Uvis Balinskis (both Florida Panthers), Zemgus Girgensons (Tampa Bay Lightning), Teodors Bļugers (Toronto Maple Leafs), Elvis Merzļikins (Columbus Blue Jackets), Alberts Šmits (New York Rangers), Artūrs Šilovs (Pittsburgh Penguins), Ēriks Mateiko (Washington Capitals), and Eduards Tralmaks and Rūdolfs Bērzkalns, who both play for the Edmonton Oilers.
