Carnival Youth: all Austras balva nominees deserve to win
Carnival Youth musician Roberts Vanags said on a radio show that this year's Austras balva nominated albums are so varied that the jury will struggle to pick a winner. He believes all nominees deserve recognition.
Roberts Vanags, a musician from the band Carnival Youth, shared his thoughts on this year's Austras balva nominees during an appearance on Latvijas Radio 5's programme "Citi rīti", saying the jury faces a difficult task.
Vanags explained that after listening to the nominated albums, he did not feel that any one of them stood out as better than the others. According to him, the works are simply too different from one another for direct comparison, making the choice largely a matter of personal taste.
"I really don't understand how the jury will manage to deal with all of this," the musician said, adding that in his view, all of this year's nominees deserve to receive the award.
The Austras balva is a Latvian music industry award presented annually to recognise outstanding achievements in music.
