Casio's Upcoming G-Shock Line Echoes the Look of Patek Philippe's Nautilus

Casio, already known for its "CasiOak" model that nods to Audemars Piguet's Royal Oak with its octagonal case, appears set to pay tribute to another icon of luxury watchmaking: Patek Philippe's Nautilus.

Details of the new series surfaced via Notebookcheck and Instagram leaks, though Casio has not confirmed anything officially and did not respond to a request for comment. According to the leaks, the lineup will include two versions: a resin-cased range labeled GAC-2500, said to draw on the design DNA of the original 1983 DW-5000C, the first G-Shock ever made, and a stainless-steel range called GMC-2500.

Both the Nautilus and the Royal Oak were designed by legendary watchmaker Gérald Genta, first for Audemars Piguet in 1972 and later for Patek Philippe in 1976. The new Casio models, already nicknamed "CasioNaut" and "CasioTilus" online, borrow the distinctive shouldered case shape associated with the Nautilus.

A rare fully analog format

Unlike most G-Shock models, which typically include a digital display, this new series is said to be entirely analog. The dial reportedly features a two-eye layout with a small seconds subdial on the left and a date window on the right, along with a Shock Resist marking on the tip of the seconds hand. The watches are also said to use Casio's Magnetic Holding Structure, which holds the hands in place magnetically rather than fixing them to a shaft, allowing them to absorb strong impacts without breaking.

The metal version reportedly measures about 46.7 x 43.8 x 12.9 mm, while the resin version is slightly thinner at 46.7 x 44.5 x 12.7 mm. Leaked details point to four resin colorways — white, black, green, and yellow — priced around $134, while the steel versions are expected to cost roughly $320. The series is rumored to be released in November.
