Casio launches CT-FS1 keyboard that lets players follow songs without hitting a wrong note
Japanese instrument maker Casio has released the CT-FS1 keyboard with new Feel Sync technology that adapts the keys to a chosen song. It costs $400 and is available now.
Musical instrument maker Casio has unveiled the CT-FS1, an electronic keyboard aimed at beginners. Its main feature is the company's new Feel Sync technology, which adapts the instrument to any song so that the player cannot hit a wrong note. The keyboard costs $400 and is on sale now.
How Feel Sync works
The technology runs through a dedicated Feel Sync app. A user uploads a song of their choice, and an algorithm analyzes its content so the keyboard stays in key. This also applies to complex pieces with many key changes and different bridge sections.
The source's author notes that this approach will not help with learning scales, but it could support practice of rhythm, timing and expression, which are often overlooked when learning an instrument. The Feel Sync section can also be split into two zones: a beginner can play on one end while a more experienced musician plays the actual notes on the other.
Other features
The CT-FS1 can also be used as a standard Casio keyboard. It has 61 touch-responsive keys, a built-in stereo speaker with a surround effect, a wide choice of sounds, a headphone output and Bluetooth connectivity.
The instrument is fairly portable. It runs on AA batteries or an AC adapter and weighs just under ten pounds (about 4.5 kg). It comes in two colors, black and white, both fully monochrome, including the keys. The source's author adds that this design choice may not appeal to everyone.
