Caune/Svencis take lead in Latvia's eco-rally round
Krišjānis Caune and Edgars Svencis have taken the lead after the second day of the Neste MY Renewable Charge EV Rally Latvia, ahead of a Czech crew and another Latvian pair.

On Saturday, July 11, the second day of the FIA World Eco-Rally Cup's Latvian round took place, with participants completing five regularity stages. Two were on gravel in Ogre district, two in Ropaži district, and one was an asphalt challenge at Biķernieki track. Rain made the roads slippery, adding difficulty to an already demanding course.
The most precise performance came from Latvian crew Krišjānis Caune and Edgars Svencis, who moved into the overall lead. Second are Czech competitors Michal Žďárský and Jakub Nábělek, while third place is held by another Latvian pair: Elmārs Tikums and Arnis Modris.
The decisive day will be Sunday, July 12. The ceremonial start is scheduled for 9:00 AM at Ķekava Primary School, with the first regularity stage beginning at 9:35 AM in the Baldone area. The climax is expected at 2:20 PM in the Tumšupe area, where the stage must be completed twice. The finish and awards ceremony will take place at Biķernieki track.
The eco-rally was created by the FIA in 2006 for vehicles using alternative energy sources. Since 2022, it has been known as the FIA World Eco-Rally Cup. Participants use standard electric cars with no technical modifications, except for additional distance and time measuring systems.
