Caune and Bareiķis Win Latvian 5K Road Running Championship in Liepāja

Agate Caune and Artūrs Bareiķis won the Latvian 5-kilometer road running championship held in Liepāja on Sunday.

The Latvian Athletics Union organized the sixth edition of the national 5K road running championship in Liepāja on Sunday, July 13. In the women's race, Agate Caune crossed the finish line in 16 minutes and 34 seconds, securing her second national title in this event—she first won in 2024. Marta Livčāne finished second, 59 seconds behind, while Poļina Curikova placed third, trailing by one minute and 32 seconds.

In the men's competition, Artūrs Bareiķis claimed his first championship gold with a time of 15 minutes and 26 seconds. He edged out Jānis Mūrnieks by just two seconds, while Hermanis Valtass finished third, 15 seconds adrift. The event marked the sixth time the Latvian 5K road running championship has been contested.
