Caune claims first Latvian half-marathon title, Serjogins wins again in storm-delayed race

The Latvian half-marathon championship, which had been rescheduled because of stormy weather, saw Dmitrijs Serjogins of Valmiera take the men's title once again. It marks his ninth championship win since 2019 and his eighth consecutive victory, with a finishing time of 1:09:16. The result also gave him his 27th gold medal overall in his athletic career.

Second place among the men went to Toms Komass of SK Mitauer, who clocked 1:11:02 for a personal season best. Third place was taken by Kristaps Vārna of the Folkmaņi club, who finished in 1:11:16, a new personal record.

A first title for Caune

In the women's race, Agate Caune of Valmiera won the Latvian half-marathon championship for the first time in her career. Her finishing time of 1:15:45 was just three seconds slower than her personal best. It is the 14th time overall that Caune has won a Latvian championship title in athletics.

Second place went to last year's champion, Anita Siliņa, who finished in 1:21:12, while Ilze Jumiķe took third place with a time of 1:22:01.

Shorter distance results

The event also included races over shorter distances. In the five-kilometer race, the fastest times were posted by Ņikita Bogdanovs of Daugavpils (14:49) and Elīza Krista Ķiršblūma (18:11). In the ten-kilometer race, the winners were Ralfs Dzosens of Ogre (31:01) and Poļina Curikova of the Skriešanas skola running school (37:40).
