CD Projekt Red to release remastered version of The Witcher 3 on September 29
CD Projekt Red will launch a remastered edition of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on September 29, featuring improved visuals and combat. The upgrade will be free for existing owners, and the game will reach Nintendo Switch 2 for the first time.
Game developer CD Projekt Red has announced that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, the role-playing game originally released in 2015, will receive a remastered edition later this September. The updated version arrives on September 29th.
The remaster promises upgraded visuals and combat mechanics along with a reworked skill tree. The release also bundles the two previously launched expansions, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine.
Free upgrade for current owners
Players who already own the base game on GOG, Steam, Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, or Xbox Series X/S will receive the remastered version as a free upgrade. Alongside this release, The Witcher 3 will become available on Nintendo Switch 2 for the first time.
Broader franchise plans
This remaster follows a next-gen upgrade the game received in 2022 and marks the beginning of a larger push for the franchise over the coming years. CD Projekt Red plans to release a new Witcher 3 expansion called Songs of the Past in 2027, while the next mainline installment, The Witcher 4, is targeted for 2028.
