CDU politician quits ministry job to become full-time content creator
German Christian Democrat Clara von Nathusius has left her post at the culture minister's press office to focus on social media content creation, explaining in a podcast why the political center is losing ground online.

Clara von Nathusius, a politician with Germany's Christian Democratic Union (CDU), has resigned from her position at the press office of the federal culture minister to dedicate herself fully to creating content on social media. She discussed the move in an interview with Rixa Fürsen for the "Berlin Playbook" podcast.
Von Nathusius said she wants to give a louder voice to the political center online, arguing that many lawmakers shy away from clear, assertive messaging and effectively hand social media platforms over to extreme political forces without a fight.
Instagram as the new political battleground
According to von Nathusius, Instagram has already become the new arena where political opinions are shaped. She contends that politicians who fail to take a polarizing stance on the platform simply fail to reach voters at all.
Debate over social media restrictions for minors
The conversation also touched on a demand within the CDU for a ban on social media use by young people. Von Nathusius firmly opposes such state-imposed bans, saying that responsibility for managing children's screen time should rest with parents rather than the government.
The interview was published as part of "Berlin Playbook," the daily podcast from Politico's German operation, hosted by Gordon Repinski and the Politico team.
