Celtic bolster attack with Colombian talent
Celtic have officially confirmed the transfer of Camilo Duran from Qarabag, the Azerbaijan Premier League runners-up. The fee remains undisclosed, but the contract is for five years.
Duran, a 24-year-old Colombian striker, impressed last season with 15 goals and 10 assists, five of those goals coming in 10 Champions League appearances.
"It was a dream come true playing in the Champions League," Duran said. "That's what you dream of as a kid, so to score goals was amazing and that's what I want to continue doing here, scoring goals in the Champions League. I give it my all in every game, with a lot of effort and dedication, and hopefully the goals will come."
The Colombian is Celtic's first summer signing. He joined Qarabag last summer from Portuguese second-tier side Portimonense. Duran is currently in Portugal with Celtic's training camp.
"When I first heard of the interest there was absolutely no doubt in my mind and I'm just excited to get playing with the boys," he added. "I've told the manager how happy I am to be here and that I will hopefully repay him with my performances."
Duran becomes the first Colombian to play for Celtic.
