Celtic have completed a season-long loan move for 24-year-old Danish midfielder Oliver Sorensen from Italian side Parma, with an option included to make the transfer permanent. Sorensen joined Parma in August 2025 after five years at Danish club Midtjylland.

He becomes the fourth first-team signing of the window for the Glasgow club, which has also been linked with Wolverhampton Wanderers goalkeeper Sam Johnstone and PSV Eindhoven midfielder Joel van den Berg.

More business expected

Speaking ahead of Wednesday's Scottish Premiership fixture against Aberdeen, assistant manager Shaun Maloney said several positions still needed attention before the window closes. He indicated the club hopes to add another left-back to provide competition for Scotland international Kieran Tierney, calling it a long-standing need.

Maloney also acknowledged it was possible that Japan international midfielder Reo Hatate could leave the club. Hatate has scored 33 goals in 191 appearances since joining Celtic in January 2022. Sorensen's arrival is intended partly to help replace the departed Arne Engels, who moved to West Ham United.

Asked about a possible loan move for 18-year-old Chelsea forward Shim Mheuka, Maloney said such matters were difficult to discuss and that nothing had been confirmed.

The Scottish transfer deadline falls on Thursday, while clubs must register their Europa League squads by Wednesday at 23:59 BST. Maloney said the club was aiming to strengthen around three or four key positions in time to include any new arrivals in its European squad.
