Championship leaders Swansea brace for tough test against resurgent Wrexham

Swansea City, currently top of the Championship, are gearing up to host a Wrexham team that has recently rediscovered its winning touch. The north Wales club claimed a commanding 3-0 win at Millwall in midweek, delivering manager Phil Parkinson his first victory of the season. The result came shortly after deadline-day signings Joe Worrall and Callum O'Hare joined the squad, adding fresh options to Parkinson's options.

Swansea goalkeeper Vigouroux acknowledged that Wrexham will pose a different kind of challenge compared to opponents Swansea have faced so far this season. He pointed to the sides' last meeting in March, a 2-0 home win for Wrexham at the Racecourse Ground, as an example of how that approach previously proved difficult for Matt Grimes' — sorry, Matos' — Swansea side.

"We know what they'll bring," Vigouroux said, adding that Wrexham are likely to test Swansea physically, through set-pieces and with a high work-rate.

Despite the respect for their opponents, the 32-year-old insisted Swansea, who have set an early pace at the top of the table, will not abandon their own style of play for the north-versus-south Wales derby.

Asked whether Swansea can maintain their strong early-season form on a weekly basis, Vigouroux said opportunities to play their preferred game would depend on how open matches are, noting that every opponent arrives with a different game plan that Swansea must find ways to break down.

He cautioned that it remains early in the campaign and that fortunes in the Championship can shift quickly, so the squad needs to stay grounded and keep working hard. With three or four fixtures remaining before the international break, Vigouroux said Swansea want to build a strong position by then, while focusing on taking matches one at a time.
