Driver stopped in Cerauksti parish with nearly two per mille of alcohol and no license
Police in the Cerauksti parish of the Bauska municipality stopped a man driving under heavy alcohol intoxication and without a valid driving license. A criminal case has been opened over the incident.
On Thursday, September 10, State Police officers stopped a Volkswagen car in the Cerauksti parish, driven by a man born in 1986. A breath test revealed he was driving with a blood alcohol level of 1.98 per mille — close to two per mille.
According to State Police spokesperson Rūta Strautniece-Apaļā, the stop took place at around 6:20 p.m. In addition to the high alcohol level, officers also discovered that the man did not hold a valid driving license.
Because of both violations — driving under the influence and driving without a license — the State Police has launched a criminal case. Further investigation will establish the full circumstances and determine the man's liability.
