Cert.lv: Hacker behind LVM cyberattack wanted attention, not money
Cert.lv director Baiba Kaškina stated that the hacker who attacked Latvijas valsts meži was motivated by attention-seeking rather than financial gain.

Baiba Kaškina, the head of Latvia's cyber incident prevention institution Cert.lv, said in an interview on Latvian Television's "Rīta panorāma" program that the hacker who carried out a cyberattack on the state-owned company Latvijas valsts meži (LVM) primarily aimed to draw attention to themselves rather than to make money. According to Kaškina, the attacker succeeded in this goal. Cert.lv is the national cybersecurity authority that coordinates the prevention of and response to cyber incidents. The attack on LVM has been detected, and an investigation is ongoing to determine further details and potential threats to other state institutions.
