Latvia's cyber incident prevention institution "Cert.lv" has stated that it currently has no information confirming that data obtained in a leak incident at the Road Traffic Safety Directorate (CSDD) has been published or offered for sale. The institution made the statement in response to a question from the LETA news agency.
CSDD is the Latvian state institution responsible for vehicle registration and issuing driving licences, meaning the data it holds concerns a large share of Latvia's population. "Cert.lv", for its part, is the institution responsible for identifying and preventing cyber incidents in the country.
According to "Cert.lv", there is currently no evidence that the information obtained in the incident has become publicly available or has been distributed further with the aim of sale. The institution stressed that this reflects the situation as assessed at this moment — meaning such confirmation has not yet been received, rather than a final conclusion about the overall impact of the incident.
"Cert.lv"'s comment is the latest official response regarding the CSDD data leak incident, provided amid public and media interest in whether the risk to residents whose data may have been affected has become more concrete. The institution is not confirming this for now, but it also has not ruled out that the situation could change in the future.
