Cēsis hosts first Latvian amateur beach volleyball championship
An amateur beach volleyball tournament in Cēsis has crowned its first champions, with Ludza and Cēsis representatives taking the men's and women's titles while hosts Cēsis claimed the overall Municipality Cup.

An amateur beach volleyball tournament held in Cēsis has concluded, with the host city's athletes topping the overall standings to win the Municipality Cup.
Men's competition
The men's semifinals and final produced tight contests, with three of four matches decided in three sets. Even in the match that ended in two sets, Ludza region duo Gabranovs and Turlajs needed 29 points in the first set alone to beat Cēsis pair Edgars Žurevskis and Gatis Slavēns in the semifinal.
Gabranovs and Turlajs won all seven of their matches in the tournament, defeating Ogre region pair Roberts Mazo and Raivo Rozīte 2-1 (21:11, 25:27, 15:10) in the final. In the bronze medal match, Ventspils duo Aleksis Blumbergs and Domeniks Vensbergs beat Slavēns and Žurevskis 2-1 (13:21, 21:18, 16:14).
Women's competition
In the women's tournament, sisters Inese and Loreta Kirilovs from Cēsis claimed the title after coming through several long, closely fought matches with comebacks along the way. They beat Sigulda pair Līva Sola and Sallija Grēna 2-1 (14:21, 21:13, 16:14) in the semifinal, then defeated Valmiera athletes Lauma Emīlija Bičevska and Arta Šķipore by the same set score, 2-1 (19:21, 21:12, 15:12), in the final.
Sola and Grēna took bronze, beating Ventspils pair Anita Indāne and Inta Ozola 2-0 (21:19, 21:19) in two tight sets.
