The annual Lampa conversation festival started on Thursday, July 10, in Cēsis Castle Park. The first day featured over 150 talks, discussions, interviews, workshops and performances.

Events on mental health, artificial intelligence, entrepreneurship and family roots research drew particularly large crowds. Throughout the day, the festival grounds buzzed with activity as visitors took part in MiniLampa activities, wellness zones, the Free Market, and other attractions.

Festival director Egita Prāma noted that she is always amazed at how quickly Cēsis Castle Park transforms into a place where strangers start conversations. Many come for a specific discussion but leave with new thoughts, questions, or a new conversation – one of the most beautiful things about Lampa, she said.

Evening highlights include prime ministerial candidate debates among political parties, FuckUp Nights, the traditional Politician Disco, and a screening of a FIFA World Cup quarterfinal on a large screen.

The festival continues on Saturday, July 11, with hundreds more talks throughout the day, ending with the Politician Roast. All events are free, and the full program is available on the festival website and mobile app.

Lampa aims to foster free and respectful dialogue, strengthening democracy and discussion culture in Latvia.
