Officers from the State Police South Vidzeme unit of the Vidzeme regional department detained a quad bike driver in Cēsis Municipality earlier this month following a pursuit.
According to police, the driver refused to comply with an order to stop and instead attempted to flee from officers. Police eventually caught up with the vehicle and detained the driver.
A subsequent check revealed the man was severely intoxicated, with a blood alcohol concentration of 2.69 per mille — far exceeding the legal limit and indicating a serious level of impairment.
Police noted that a child was riding on the quad bike together with the driver at the time of the incident, making the situation especially dangerous for the minor as well as for other road users.
The incident was captured on video, which the State Police has made public. Authorities are continuing to clarify the circumstances and determine the legal consequences the driver will face.
