Cēsis resident develops app for spotting drones in the sky

Kristaps Gertmanis, a resident of the Cēsis municipality, has developed a mobile application called "AirAlert" designed to help people react quickly when they spot an unusual flying object in the sky.

Why the app was created

Drones and other unidentified flying objects have become an increasingly common occurrence over Latvian territory in recent times. In such situations, people often become confused and unsure how to act, which can delay information reaching the responsible authorities.

How it works

The purpose of "AirAlert" is to let residents immediately record a suspicious object the moment it is spotted and notify the relevant services without delay. This is meant to speed up the response to potentially dangerous or unauthorized flights.

Current status

The app is currently running only in test mode and is not yet available for widespread use. This suggests it may still be refined and tested further before a full rollout.
