Cesvaine to host rallysprint in August after more than a decade break
On August 14-15, Cesvaine will hold a rallysprint, the first in over ten years, featuring eight special stages totaling 64.4 km.
Following last year's successful minirally, Cesvaine is preparing for a more significant event this summer. On August 14 and 15, the town and its surrounding roads will host the “Cesvaine” rallysprint, the first such event in Cesvaine after a break of more than ten years. Organizers emphasize that the previous competition has become a stable foundation for the development of motorsports in the region.
Registration for the event will open on July 15 at autorally.lv. Rallysprint organizer Ingus Ķimelis notes that last year's minirally helped attract supporters and build a team. Work on the event continues year-round to create a memorable experience for participants and spectators.
Competitors will tackle eight special stages with a total length of 64.4 kilometers. The route consists of four different stages, each driven twice. Organizers have designed a compact yet dynamic rally with roads characteristic of the Cesvaine area—terrain, curves, and jumps. Part of the route is familiar from last year's minirally, but some sections will be driven in the opposite direction, and one stage is entirely new.
The opening ceremony will take place at Cesvaine Castle on August 14 at 6:00 PM, with participants driving through the castle courtyard. On Saturday, August 15, the first stage starts at 9:00 AM, the last crew finishes around 5:00 PM, and the award ceremony is scheduled for 7:00 PM behind the castle. The route is designed so spectators can watch about half of the stages in one day without rushing and still have time for a lunch break.
Organizers hope for participants from neighboring countries, especially Estonia. The rallysprint will also be a round of the Martins Sesks MRF Junior Challenge. Last year's minirally positively impacted the local motorsports community—one more person joined the core organizing team, and more local residents and young people are volunteering. Locals remember last year's event and are happy that rally is returning.
