Chelsea sign Italian defender Palestra in €55 million deal
Chelsea have completed the signing of 21-year-old Italian defender Marco Palestra from Atalanta for €55 million. Palestra spent last season on loan at Cagliari and has signed a contract until 2033.
Chelsea have secured the services of Italian defender Marco Palestra from Atalanta in a deal worth €55 million, according to football journalist Fabrizio Romano.
The 21-year-old is a product of Atalanta's academy. He spent the previous season on loan at Serie A side Cagliari, where he made 37 appearances, scoring one goal and providing four assists. In the 2024/25 season, he played nine league matches for Atalanta's first team.
Chelsea have been active in the transfer window, appointing Xabi Alonso as head coach and strengthening the squad with Portuguese winger Geovani Quenda from Sporting Lisbon and Brazilian left-back Denner from Corinthians.
Palestra has signed a contract with Chelsea until 2033. The club will begin their new season on August 24 with a London derby away to Fulham.
