Cherki brilliance and Wharton's class define Palace v Man City

Manchester City secured a win away at Crystal Palace in a match defined by a moment of individual brilliance from Rayan Cherki, who scored two goals showcasing his dribbling skill and composure, earning him the highest rating on the pitch.

Erling Haaland contributed two goals of his own for City, opening with a trademark header assisted by Antoine Semenyo before adding a powerful second-half finish. The result extended Haaland's record of scoring in every Premier League appearance he has made at Selhurst Park, now six in total.

For Crystal Palace, goalkeeper Dean Henderson prevented a heavier defeat with a series of strong saves, denying Elliot Anderson, Semenyo and Cherki at various points. Midfielder Adam Wharton was one of the few bright spots for the home side, praised for his vision and passing range, though he too was eventually overwhelmed as City took control.

Palace's only goal came via a Yeremy Pino free-kick that was recorded as an own goal by City keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma. Forwards Eddie Nketiah and Jorgen Strand Larsen both squandered clear chances that could have altered the course of the match, while City's defensive pairing of Ruben Dias and Josko Gvardiol remained largely untroubled throughout.

Both managers made a series of substitutions in the second half, but the changes did little to shift the momentum, and City closed out a comfortable victory on the road.
