Latvia's Central Election Commission (CEC) has finished compiling preliminary results from the October 3 elections to the 15th Saeima, now including ballots that voters submitted by mail.

According to the commission's data, a total of 806,641 voters took part in the election. This figure represents 51.79% of all citizens eligible to vote.

Counting mail-in ballots is typically one of the final stages in compiling election results, since this voting method is used by people casting ballots from abroad or in other circumstances where appearing in person at a polling station is not possible. Including these votes allows for a more complete picture of voter turnout and how support is distributed among the parties.

The preliminary results form the basis for the official confirmation of the election outcome. Having gathered all the data, the CEC is now moving toward publishing the final results, which will determine the composition of the Saeima for its upcoming term.
