The right to vote is one of the most important rights of a citizen in a democratic state. However, for people with disabilities, exercising this right is not always straightforward. For most voters, going to the polling station, receiving a ballot, going to the booth, choosing a party list, marking it, and dropping the envelope into the ballot box are simple steps. But if a person cannot see the ballot, they may need another person's help, which means they have to disclose their choice, notes Latvijas Radio. This highlights the issue of accessibility of elections for visually impaired individuals.
