Chicago Blackhawks sign forward Moore to long-term deal worth $21 million

Chicago Blackhawks forward Oliver Moore, who has appeared in just 60 NHL games so far in his career, has agreed to a new long-term contract with the club worth a total of $21 million.

Last season Moore played 51 games, recording 19 points, including five goals and 14 assists. Across his NHL career to date he has tallied 23 points in 60 games, having also spent part of that time with the team's farm club.

This season was set to be the final year of his previous entry-level contract, under which Moore earned $950,000. Next summer he would have been eligible to become a restricted free agent, but the Blackhawks opted to secure a long-term commitment ahead of that.

A show of trust

Moore said the new deal gives him a sense of security, while acknowledging the added responsibility that comes with it. He noted that despite his relatively limited NHL experience, the club has shown trust and belief in his ability to help the team reach its goals.

Moore was selected by the Blackhawks in the first round, 19th overall, in the 2023 NHL Draft. He went on to win the U20 World Championship title with Team USA in both 2024 and 2025.

The new NHL regular season begins in the night from Tuesday to Wednesday, Latvian time. On opening day, the Blackhawks will visit last season's Stanley Cup finalists, the Vegas Golden Knights.
