Zurich-based Immitra Bio secures €2.58 million for in-vivo gene editing platform
Immitra Bio, a Zurich-based genetic medicine startup, has raised €2.58 million in pre-seed funding to advance its scalable in-vivo gene editing platform for inherited diseases.

Immitra Bio, a Zurich-based company focused on genetic medicine, has announced the closure of an upsized pre-seed financing round of €2.58 million (CHF 2.4 million). The round includes €2.42 million (CHF 2.25 million) from venture capital and private investors, plus an additional €161,800 (CHF 150,000) from non-dilutive sources.
The round was led by Backbone Ventures and co-led by OCCIDENT, with participation from Another VC, Kickfund, Venture Kick, Zürcher Kantonalbank, FONGIT, ETH Foundation, and selected private investors.
Founded in 2024 by Jan Nelis, Amir Taheri, and Jacob Corn, Immitra Bio is developing a platform for one-time curative in-vivo gene editing therapies. The company's technology is mutation-agnostic and uses a digital target identification platform. Unlike current ex-vivo approaches that require chemotherapy and stem cell transplantation, Immitra Bio's method aims to deliver a single, off-the-shelf injection without such toxicities.
The fresh capital will primarily support preclinical proof-of-concept studies for the lead candidate, IB-003, a potential treatment for an inherited anemia. Additional funds will go toward further discovery and validation of pipeline candidates and refinement of the platform.
