A user named Dzintars posted a screenshot on the social network Threads showing the price of a sausage in pastry at Riga International Airport in Latvia: €5.50 for a single snack. In his post he added that inflation had also reached this item at the airport.

Food and drink at airports often cost noticeably more than in ordinary shops and cafés, so passengers who want something to eat before a flight can end up spending more than expected.

Jokes and comparisons in the comments

Most commenters responded with humour. One woman wrote that the price would be reasonable only if the sausage came from a pig that had grazed in a monastery courtyard and the dough from flour processed by monks. Another user, Lamzaks, ironically asked whether the price per kilogram might be given instead, while a user called Juta asked if the price was for the whole "pile".

Some commenters pointed out that high prices are typical of nearly all airports. Liene said that last week she saw a shrimp sandwich priced at €25 at Stockholm Arlanda airport. A user named Romax said he paid €22 for ten chicken nuggets at the KFC fast-food restaurant in Antalya airport in Turkey. Indra joked that the airport price covers the "bus station bun experience", while Kalniņš concluded that these are simply normal airport prices.

The source does not say whether the stated price applies at all food outlets at Riga airport or only at one of them.
