Claude Cowork now works inside a Chrome sidebar
Anthropic has folded its Claude Cowork feature into the Claude for Chrome browser extension, letting users pick up conversations and tasks across the app and browser.

Anthropic has announced that Claude Cowork is now integrated into the company's Claude for Chrome browser extension. Conversations conducted in the Chrome side panel will now become part of a user's history, and any skills or connectors configured for Cowork will automatically function within the browser as well.
A key benefit of the update is the ability to begin a task in the standalone Claude app and continue it later in Chrome, or the reverse. This is designed to help people who frequently carry out tasks using Google's browser.
Rollout
Max and Team subscribers can access the feature starting now, while Pro plan users will gain access in the coming weeks.
Background
Although Anthropic has already built official integrations with numerous professional and lifestyle services for its Claude products, this update gives the chatbot a way to carry out actions in tools that lack such direct support, by working through the browser instead.
Claude Code, the company's more advanced tool aimed at software developers, was already available within the Chrome extension. Claude Cowork, by contrast, was introduced as a simplified version of these tools meant for non-technical, everyday users. The company recently also added the ability to control Cowork from a smartphone.
The Claude for Chrome extension became available to all Anthropic users in late 2025.
