CSDD urges drivers not to delay switching from summer to winter tyres
Latvia's Road Traffic Safety Directorate (CSDD) is urging drivers to change their summer tyres for winter ones in good time. The weather is turning colder, and roads can be icy in places in the mornings.

The Road Traffic Safety Directorate (CSDD), the Latvian body that oversees road safety and the technical condition of vehicles, is urging drivers not to put off replacing summer tyres with winter tyres. The call comes in early November, as the weather becomes increasingly cold and wintry.
Why the tyre change matters
According to CSDD, drivers should now pay closer attention to the technical condition of their cars and the state of their tyres. This is especially important in the morning hours, when the air temperature can fall below zero. Roads may then be icy in places, so drivers need to be very careful.
