On Thursday, August 20, the Ministry of Transport held an extraordinary shareholders' meeting for the Road Traffic Safety Directorate (CSDD), electing a new temporary board. The decision follows a recent cyberattack on the company, after which the previous board and management members stepped down.

New board members

Ģirts Ozols was elected chairman of the temporary board. He currently heads the state joint-stock company "Latvian State Radio and Television Centre" (LVRTC) and has more than 25 years of experience in telecommunications, information technology and business management, including a decade in leadership roles at LVRTC and in Latvia's telecommunications sector.

Līga Ermane and Ivars Saliņš were elected as board members. Ermane currently serves on the board of the state postal company "Latvijas Pasts" and has experience in financial management and corporate governance, having worked across aviation, real estate, postal services and healthcare. Saliņš previously worked at the state air navigation company "Latvijas Gaisa Satiksme", where he headed the strategic planning and administrative support department, and brings experience in the transport sector and investment project management.

Tasks and next steps

The temporary board's main task is to ensure CSDD continues operating stably and that necessary company decisions are made following the departure of previous leadership. The board will remain in place until permanent management is chosen.

The Ministry of Transport has announced it plans to soon launch an open competition for CSDD's board and management positions, which will determine the directorate's permanent leadership.
