Latvia's Road Traffic Safety Directorate (CSDD) has announced that several of its information technology systems, which previously did not offer two-factor verification, are now having this security feature developed for user authorization.

The announcement was made by Mārtiņš Mālmeisters, head of CSDD's Communications Department, who confirmed the agency is working on strengthening login security across its digital platforms.

Why it matters

Two-factor verification is a widely used security measure that requires an additional identity confirmation beyond a password, making unauthorized access more difficult. Introducing this mechanism to CSDD's systems could improve protection of user data and services against potential cybersecurity risks.

The source material does not specify which particular CSDD systems are affected by the change, nor does it give a timeline for when the new feature will become available to users.
