Cyberattack on CSDD: no signs yet that obtained data have been used

Following a hacker attack on the information system of the Road Traffic Safety Directorate (CSDD) over the weekend, the motives of the attackers remain unknown so far. In the Latvian Television program "Rīta panorāma", deputy head of the cybersecurity center Cert.lv Varis Teivāns said there are currently no signs that the personal data obtained from the system have been used.

Teivāns noted that the amount of data obtained in the attack is large, but it is still being specified. He refrained from making predictions about the attackers' goals, as the investigation is ongoing.

Cert.lv is Latvia's cybersecurity center responsible for monitoring and assisting in the prevention of cybersecurity incidents. The attack on CSDD occurred during the weekend, and specialists are still assessing its scale and consequences. So far, however, there is no information that the data obtained in the attack have reached third parties or have been used maliciously.
