Pork price in Latvia up 6.7% in April compared to March
In April, pork prices in Latvia rose by 6.7% month-on-month, while the EU average increase was 2.8%. Latvian prices were 17.2% above the EU average.

According to data from the Ministry of Agriculture, pork prices in Latvia increased by 6.7% in April compared to the previous month, while the average monthly increase in the European Union was 2.8%. However, compared to April 2025, EU pork prices fell by 17%, but in Latvia they remained 17.2% higher than the EU average.
The EU average carcass price in April was 167.53 euros per 100 kilograms. Among neighboring countries, prices rose by 4.9% in Lithuania, 2.4% in Estonia, and year-on-year all mentioned countries saw declines – the steepest in Denmark (17.8%) and Poland (16.8%).
Data also show that in the first two months of this year, compared to the same period in 2025, the number of slaughtered animals in the EU decreased by 0.3%, but in Latvia by 24.4%. Meat production remained unchanged in the EU but fell by 24.3% in Latvia.
EU imports in January this year decreased by 8.4% compared to January 2025, especially from Chile and Norway. EU exports fell by 1.5%, but increased to Vietnam, South Korea, and Australia. The main pork exporters globally in January were the EU, the US, Brazil, and Canada.
